Preset Launch

The time has come for us to release our next set of presets. Christian and I have been developing these for a while now, not just technically, but also digging down into the tones and mood that truly inspire us beyond an edit. We hope to share what we can of this, through our presets and see you guys also grow in inspiration, passion & new ideas for photography, visual styling & most importantly life in general! To us there is honestly nothing greater than to look across the room and know both or at least one of us is filled with passion for some kind of idea, You really can't buy this feeling, or ideas, however we have found - learning  through creativity and opening up to something that pushes you into a direction that continues the quest / spark is really incredible. Thus gave us the motivation to develop these :) It's hard for me to put into words just how grateful I am for other creatives simply using their gifts - so knowing there is the slightest possibility we could do the same, we are extremely excited to let these loose! Below are examples for each one of my presets - beside them I have written a little more about it and why I have created / use it. This set of 5 is $30 - Christian also has a set of 5 for the same price. Or you can get both of ours (10) for $50. With the sets there comes an in depth how to use guide, tips of how we both photograph and the best ways to shoot when using each preset.

FADED GRIT - This preset has character. The purpose is to give it a faded antique feel while still being warm and nostalgic. The shadows are a little more green / yellow with a matte highlight to almost make it like a faded textured tangible image.  

DUSTY ROSE - This preset is soft with a light rose gold tinge. The shadows are deep with a smooth result. I often add a subtle texture layer over this preset as if gives it even more dimension without turning it into a grainy 'crunchy'’ shot. (Works best for over cast / foggy images, or detail images / taken indoors).

NOSTALGIA - I love this word and I love black and white images that make me feel something that transcends an era! This preset was created to give images a romantic, timeless feel. I created it with lots of grain, lighter mid tones but still a warm depth in the black

MILK - This preset has a cleaner matte approach. The mid tones are also more visible, making it great for darker images too. It has of a modern feel, also making it a great choice for consistant  interior / lifestyle photographs.

SOFT ANTIQUE - This is a moody preset which is heavily inspired by period films. Still with a natural feel, the shadows are deeper with a green / blue undertone. This preset works beautifully with a layer of texture added too, also making it feel like it was taken from another era.  

New to 1924.us

A few images of what is going on with the 1924 store! I thought to post something involving a bit of everything! Recent antiques added, camp cards, mugs, handmade campfire scented candles! Christian has been working on a t-shirt design, which was released a few months ago as the 'Mystery Tee'. Basically no one knew what the design would be when they ordered it. They just picked a size. This is something that meant a lot to us both, as he wanted to create something physical from his own spiritual growth. Which is really incredible to have the opportunity to do! So over the past months orders came in and we are both so humbled and so appreciative of all the feedback :) You can see the design below. What you can't see is the inset of the tee has a small design of a man rowing away in a little boat named 'SS Redemption'. This is the most important part. As we have grown together through small bumps (comparatively small, they have definitely felt like mountains at times) but redemption or grace has always been the there, always bigger and constant. I can't really put into words how proud I am of the man I have watched Christian become. And with every 'movement' we have in the world right now, taking on attributes good or bad, all we each really have to begin with is purely ourselves. Our own outlook, thoughts, small actions. As well known as this message is, it never gets old. There is MASSIVE power in the smallest parts of ourselves, this is all we start with.  So in conclusion, it is because of God, God in our lives, Jesus Christ who paved an alternative lane and made it possible for us to access this holy, grace abounding, joyful and humbling route. 

Pinafore No. 1

This dress has been a work in progress for some time now. It is a collaboration piece by a lifelong friend, Melody & I.  I have been heavily inspired by the elegance, quality and simple femininity of the late 1800’s. So it was important to create something reminiscent of history yet still very much wearable, easily customizable to fit whoever wears it and modern in our own era. The dress is made from 100% pre softened Lithuanian linen. There is an internal side zip for convenience, two internal pockets by each side and a weighted hem at the bottom for a beautiful feel and bounce as you walk. The straps are open to interpretation - depending on what neckline you like and how you would like the dress to fall, you can cross them at the back, drop them straight down, wear a top underneath, tie them around your waist, there are a few options, as you can see in the images. Melody has been sewing her own linen garments for quite some time, so whether you are going out or staying in - together we made sure the quality is the best we could find and the pinafores are extremely comfortable to do almost any activity in. All the dresses are hand sewn with incredible attention to detail and quality in Australia, and we are extremely proud and excited about what we have created. Spring Dresses!

The most feminine side to me strikes when the flowers start blooming this time of year. I couldn't help to photograph with them :) So  with Christian's eyes we photographed some new releases to Sisters of the black Moon. And I couldn't be more in love with their dresses! Everything wraps and drapes perfectly. Also featured is a favorite bag made by UK based Beara Beara! And of course the last outfit includes some of our antiques from the 1924 store! Happy April  you guys <3 

Calvin Klein - CK minutes

Crushed velvet with linen & gold accents! This is a series based around Calvin Klein's recent watch drop! Which are minimal and simplistic. We took a romantic twist on the campaign which is based around pausing in life to appreciate single moments. And of course more than ever, we have been treasuring our minutes. So here is a transitional outfit post, super excited to continue to share the outfit ideas into Spring! <3 

Bedtonic linen clothing & bedding

The beginning of Spring Commences! Last weekend a good friend visited from Australia and we had the opportunity to travel down the coastline.  So here is an image series from the travels with Bedtonic, featuring both their Poets Tunic and their linen bedding. photographed by Christian & I. 

Hawaii on Analog

Hawaii was incredible! We had some time to totally relax, go for long walks at dusk, eat A LOT of snow cones, sleep and go to bed at whatever time we decided, swim, dry off and swim again :)  

1960's Travelall Transformation

Taking the Travelall out for the first time! Christian found it with Bend based 'Binder Boneyard', who transformed it from an unusable rusted garden shelter to one of the most beautiful things on wheels! We made a film in the process of styling some of the 1924 goods for the store! Couldn't be more happy with the result :)  (check here for before and after process pictures!) 

Clay styling pieces - new to the antique store

Some new pottery pieces for our antique store! The above ones Christian & I sourced in New Zealand on the way traveling down to Dunedin! They are almost up on the store. I just got excited to share a blog post first :) I also included some other finds from Oregon we fell in love with! Pottery is such a beautiful way to style simple nooks. I also have some exciting news, that is we are moving at the end of the week. So we have been packing and refining all the antiques. I can't tell you how excited we are to switch up locations (the one we are currently in is leaking water), although to be honest, the excitement is more along the lines we get to style a house from scratch YYAYAYAY!!! All items from the 1924 antique store :) 

Stevie May x Elle-May

A small look book we created for Stevie May with some favorite 2018 pieces! They are based here in Australia & we had a lot of fun using the Australian landscapes / heritage buildings and  pubs! The designs all have these beautiful wraps and drapes signature to their style.  It has also been an incredible month and a half back home. Christian and I returned to the Sunshine Coast yesterday from an amazing trip down south with friends discovering Melbourne, Thredbo and some more of the southern coastline (the twelve apostles).  Now our time is almost up here for the start of the year, we will return to Portland by the end of the week (It has been some crazy traveling). I am motivated to set up the next snippet of a chapter, we have found some of our favorite antiques on this trip and are both over the moon to get them up on the store once we are back in Oregon! Happy new year for now you guys, I will see you sooooon <3
